Overview
Nestled in the lap of the Indian Himalayas, the Bhrigu Lake Trek is a mesmerizing journey that leads adventurers to the tranquil shores of one of the region’s most enchanting alpine lakes. Situated at an elevation of 14,009 feet (4,271 meters) above sea level, Bhrigu Lake is renowned for its crystal-clear waters, surrounded by towering peaks and lush meadows.
The trek begins in the picturesque town of Manali, located in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. From Manali, trekkers embark on a scenic drive to Gulaba, the starting point of the trek. The trail winds its way through dense forests of pine and cedar, with glimpses of snow-capped peaks peeking through the foliage.
As trekkers ascend higher, the landscape undergoes a dramatic transformation. Alpine meadows dotted with vibrant wildflowers stretch as far as the eye can see, while towering peaks rise majestically in the distance. The air becomes crisp and invigorating, and the sound of rushing streams fills the air, offering a sense of tranquility and serenity that is unparalleled.
One of the highlights of the Bhrigu Lake Trek is reaching the shores of the lake itself. Surrounded by towering cliffs and snow-capped peaks, Bhrigu Lake exudes an aura of peace and serenity. Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Manali
Arrival at Manali Bus stand transfer to Hotel in the forenoon. Immediately after your check-in you will be briefed about the Trek and surrounding area. Breakfast, Dinner and will be served, Free Day to explore Manali (Lunch not Included)
Day 02: Drive to Kulang 6 KMS and Trek to Moridugh camp (9000ft) 3 Hours Trek
After breakfast your trek for Silver Oak Camp/Top Camp Starts. It takes 4 hours to reach the Silver Oak Camp of Himalayan Mountain Sojourns. On your arrival at camp you are welcomed with a hot lunch. In the evening you will be taken to rock field for Rappelling. Overnight in the Jungle Camp.
Day 03: Moridugh camp to Bhrigu Lake (14000ft) and Back; 8 Hours Trek
After an early breakfast and collecting pack lunch for the day, you leave for Bhrigu Lake. For first two hours you trek through dense silver oak forest. Reaching at an altitude of 10,000ft forest ends and meadows start. Even in the summer months of April, May and June these meadows are snow-covered. So it gives you a good experience of snow trekking. The trek gives a panoramic view of Manali valley. After reaching at Bhrigu spending some time there you descend down to the Moridugh Camp of Deshatan.
Day 04: Moridugh to Vashisht (6500ft); 3 Hours Trek
Moridugh Camp to Vashisht- A downhill trek starts from the camp-site to take you to Vashisht village. Vashisht is one of the prominent tourist spots of Manali and is famous for its hot sulphur water springs. You can take a hot sulphur water bath in the public ponds here. Tour ends here.

Preparation Guide
Physical Fitness
Engage in regular cardiovascular exercises like hiking, jogging, or cycling to build stamina and endurance.
Incorporate strength training exercises to strengthen leg muscles and core stability.
Practice hiking with a loaded backpack to simulate trekking conditions.
Altitude Acclimatization
- Plan for at least a day or two of acclimatization in Sonmarg or nearby areas before starting the trek.
- Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol and smoking to minimize the risk of altitude sickness.
- Ascend gradually and listen to your body’s signals to recognize symptoms of altitude sickness.
Packing Essentials
- Clothing: Pack lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing suitable for layering, including thermal innerwear, fleece jackets, waterproof and windproof outer layers, trekking pants, and woolen socks.
- Footwear: Invest in sturdy, well-fitted trekking boots with ankle support and good traction.
- Gear: Bring a comfortable backpack with padded shoulder straps, a rain cover, trekking poles, a sleeping bag rated for low temperatures, a lightweight tent or shelter, a headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries, a multi-tool or knife, and a first aid kit.
- Accessories: Carry a wide-brimmed hat or cap, sunglasses with UV protection, sunscreen, lip balm with SPF, a water bottle or hydration pack, water purification tablets or filter, quick-drying towel, and toiletries.
- Personal Items: Don’t forget essentials like identification documents, permits, cash, camera or smartphone for capturing memories, and any prescribed medications
